A painter by vocation, Carlos Ygoa has been a professional for over 30 years. He has focused mainly on Liturgical Art and has worked hand in hand with designers and architects worldwide, helping to create sacred spaces that inspire peaceful and quiet meditation...

"Its always been a symbiotic relationship, I think, between the artist and the Church", Ygoa says.  "The artist serves the need that the Church has to evangelize by converting the mystical and spiritual into something tangible and graphic for the faithful, and, in this way, the hunger that the artist has to create and be poetic in his creation is also fed".  Ygoa's main aim from the client´s point of view is to invite meditation and to offer the faithful something "real" so as to make the sublime more accessible and something to be reached. His body of non-liturgical work comprises all genres, from the figure and still life to 'plein aire' work both in landscape and urban scenes, many of these in watercolour as well. All his works are executed in an unmistakeable contemporary realist style, borrowing from the Old Masters, the Spanish school of the 19thC, as well as contemporary realists of the 20th C and the present day.
